One of Wales's addiction facilities has been found to boost the self-esteem of drug and alcohol addicts.
The drug and alcohol care centre Choose Life Cymru has invested in a diversionary activity programme, which provides classes and activities for addicts, the BBC reports.
Alan Andrews, founder of the centre in Llanelli in Carmathenshire, explained that the diversionary activity programme helps to build self-esteem, which can increase the success of the rehabilitation.
"It's little changes to their lifestyle that can make a big difference," Mr Andrews said.
He added: "Their self esteem and confidence is built up and that in turn can make a huge difference to their addiction."
Mr Andrews's form of drug and alcohol abuse support, which features activities such as go-kart racing, art lessons and social events, has received a Big Lottery Fund grant for around £340,000.
The Choose Life intervention centre has a drop-in centre offering advice to people suffering from addiction.
It also provides family support, drug education and training programmes, as well as its residential rehabilitation initiatives.
