One of the most challenging situations a person can face is having a partner in need of drug addiction support.
This is according to a helium.com's Victoria Tiegert, who said there is no other instance that can put someone under the same level of stress.
Ms Tiegert explained that this is because addiction, whether it be drug or alcohol addiction or an eating disorder, has the ability to consume a person and control their decisions and actions.
She went on to warn that the majority of addictions also have the ability to influence the people caring for those in need of drug addiction help.
"Addicts aren't just 'bad' people, nor are the people who love them just 'weak' people," Ms Tiegert wrote.
"Addicts are often those larger than life, creative, emotional sorts that have a lot to offer a relationship...that is, until the addiction gets into full control."
Relationships can occasionally form the basis for a drug addiction, particularly when partners experiment with substances.
