Drug addicts are being asked to sign up to receive advisory text messages from a Welsh charity organisation.
The Swansea Drugs Project Free Advice Support Texts will be a free service aimed at telling drug users what to do if they or their friends experience an overdose.
Ifor Glyn, project director, told the news source: "The service will see the project use a texting service to send out regular messages warning people about the risks and dangers of drug taking and suggesting ways in which they can protect themselves and responsibilities to the wider community."
Although the new initiative could help some drugs addicts, many may still have to attend drug addiction programmes to kick their habit.
The Swansea Drugs Project is hoping to sign up its 700 existing users to the service.
It is the first of its kind in Wales, although a similar project in Dublin has so far proved successful, Mr Glyn commented.
The Swansea Drugs Project is one of the oldest substance misuse agencies in Wales, having been set up in 1983 by local residents, its website states.
