A dealer from Egremont has been charged and sentenced after police seized £4,000 worth of cocaine at his home, it has been reported.
Neil Clarkson is to serve three years in prison for his offences, which have been described by lawyers as "inexcusable behaviour", according to the Whitehaven News.
Following his arrest in May, investigators found the man to be in possession of over an ounce of pure cocaine.
Prosecutor Alan Lovett told the court the value of the substances discovered indicated a "substantial amount", despite belief Mr Clarkson was a relatively low-level street dealer.
The newspaper reports recorder Simon Medland told the guilty party: "Let me make it clear that addiction to class A drugs, however recreational, brings in its wake only death, destruction and despair."
Mr Clarkson's defending aide said his client was aware of the scale of his crimes and that he had "let down" the people close to him.
Police in the Wye Forest area, meanwhile, have expressed concern over contamination or higher strengths of heroin circulating locally after a man died following a heroin abuse incident, according to the Kidderminster Shuttle.
