The behaviour of parents in need of drug addiction intervention can often negatively affect their children's physical and mental wellbeing.
This issue has been highlighted by Action on Addiction Salisbury, which has been awarded a £90,000 from charity Children in Need to develop programmes for young people whose parents are battling drug addiction, the Salisbury Journal reports.
In addition to boosting children's mental, physical and emotional help, the M-PACT initiative will teach young people personal safety and social skills.
This is worldwide issue, with the Malaysia Star reporting yesterday (May 16th) that the country's Addiction Medicine Association (AMAM) will prioritise drug addiction treatment for patients with children.
According to AMAM, two-thirds (66 per cent) of drug addiction patients in Malaysia are aged 30 and above and are likely to have children.
The problem is also prevalent in the US, where approximately 8.3 million children (11 per cent of the country's minor population) live with at least one parent who is dependent on drugs or alcohol.
