Timeline
Primary treatment
With any drug and alcohol rehab, a detox is necessary for the first 5 to 14 days.
At Change the process starts with primary treatment. This involves group therapy and counselling sessions.
Primary treatment is the most important part of the process. This is the absolute minimum requirement we suggest for inpatient treatment. Primary care normally lasts for a minimum of 28 days. This process is more intense than the secondary care, but with it you have a much higher chance of long-term recovery.
The sole purpose of primary care is to detox people from their drug of choice. We take them out of their environment and highlight that they have messed up. This is not their fault and they have an illness. However, there is hope and an option for change. Usually the patient is so clouded in this initial 30 day period that they cannot consume too much information. Also it is unlikely they will be able to comprehend and digest the damage they have caused themselves and their family in this period. These are some of the main reasons that the long-term recovery success rate of addicts that just go to primary care, is about 6%.
Secondary treatment
Since the introduction of secondary care (which will provide the client with a bridge to normal living). The rate of recovery of clients has increased massively.
Secondary care patients are given some freedom. At the same time they complete a majority of the twelve steps, especially step 4, which provides them with a foundation and a set of tools to live life on life's terms.
Secondary treatment is also a vital part of the process. This is where you take more control of your life. You begin to have some free time, which acts as a bridge back home without the past addictions.
This is important as evidence shows. It adds to long-term recovery success rates. Secondary care lasts normally for 2 to 5 months depending on progression assessed by Change and your specially selected clinic.
Tertiary treatment
Tertiary care is important as this is the real life bridge to living. For people that require this stage of support, it lasts for a minimum of 2 to 6 months.
When completed it's up to the addict to continue going to meetings. Going as much as they feel is needed. It's your choice.
We are here to;
Addiction comes back if you let it.
The normal process for a well-progressed patient will last a maximum of 3 to 5 months. From the start of primary care to the end of tertiary care. When primary, secondary or tertiary care is completed it's your choice to continue going to meetings and enjoying your life afterwards. With a different more positive approach. With confidence, without fear and without feeding off your addiction. That's all in the past once treatment is completed successfully. Then you continue to monitor yourself through meetings.
Change's mission statement is to have a higher success rates than the industry standard in the number of people reaching over one year of clean time. As a result this will lead to lifetime long term recovery. Change will do this by offering a service that is second to none. Communicating with parents or family members, highlighting the progress of the addict and by providing a framework of support that lasts much longer than just their initial treatment period.
